In this case study, I’ll show how I designed an AI-powered companion app to help UX professionals synthesize user interviews faster and reduce manual effort.

                                                                               Cover Banner

Overview

It started during one of my user research projects. After a series of exciting user interviews, I hit a wall.

Synthesis was overwhelming: hours spent tagging quotes, building affinity maps, and organizing chaos.

Around the same time, AI is transforming workflows everywhere — yet nothing existed for UX designers and UX researchers.

That’s when it clicked: what if we had an AI-powered research companion that understood our conversations with users, detected themes, and surfaced emotional cues?

🎯If simply put, the problem is…

After conducting user interviews, the process of synthesizing them remains time-consuming, fragmented, and mentally draining, even with AI tools in the mix.

So, I set out to design a mobile-first AI app to turn interviews into insights faster, with less friction.

🔍 Diving deep into the problem

Starting with primary research, I asked a set of questions to fellow designers and researchers I met during my journey at 10kdesigners to understand their real challenges during and after user interviews.

You can find the list of questions I asked fellow designers, ranging from junior to senior levels, in the attached Docs. Click here.

Through the conversations, I uncovered some core issues.
